Glenmark expands CSR footprint in Sikkim with health centre upgrades and mobile services

Glenmark Pharmaceuticals, a global research-led pharmaceutical company, has stepped up its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) efforts in Sikkim through the Glenmark Foundation. The company has upgraded Health and Wellness Centres (Sub Health Centres) in Marchak and Tumlabong, improving grassroots healthcare delivery in alignment with the government’s Swachh Bharat Abhiyan and Kayakalp Programme.

As part of its CSR mission to “enrich lives for a healthier and happier world,” Glenmark also continues its flagship initiative, Health on Wheels for Children. Operating for over eight years, the mobile healthcare service reaches 16 remote villages and 33 anganwadis, providing free consultations, medicines, health education, and referrals to over 23,000 people—focusing on children under six and pregnant and lactating women.

In parallel, Glenmark is investing in education and community infrastructure. The company supported classroom upgrades at West Point Senior Secondary School in Gangtok to enhance digital learning for underserved students and distributed nearly 60 solar lights in areas near its facility to boost safety and accessibility. “Progress is meaningful when it uplifts lives and meets real needs,” said Vijay Kumar Mangla, Head of Manufacturing–Sikkim, Glenmark Pharmaceuticals. “We aim to set strong standards for social responsibility.”
