‘Vision 2047’ chart by Sikkim CM and Scindia, with an emphasis on borders, tourism, and organic growth

Union Minister for Development of North Eastern Region (MDoNER) Jyotiraditya Scindia and Sikkim Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang conducted a video conference to expedite developmental efforts in line with the country’s Viksit Bharat@2047 vision. The meeting’s main objectives were to match Sikkim’s growth plan with the Center’s long-term objectives, with a focus on organic farming, sustainable tourism, and border development.

The need to expedite the Detailed Project Report (DPR) for the Vibrant Villages Programme, a program to improve connectivity and infrastructure in Sikkim’s remote border districts, was one of the discussion’s most notable topics. Another important strategic asset was the Chiwabhanjyang corridor, which runs along the border between Sikkim and Eastern Nepal. CM Tamang reaffirmed its capacity to expand international trade and create new business opportunities.

In an effort to protect cultural heritage and provide revenue for local populations, the authorities of Sikkim and the Center talked about plans to encourage homestays in isolated areas. They also emphasized how important it is to have skilled labor to sustain the expanding tourism sector. Chief Minister Shri Jyotiraditya Scindia gave a review of important Sikkim projects and conveyed gratitude for the Center’s assistance, especially with regard to tourism-related infrastructure. Strategic commerce routes, tourism circuits, organic farming, and critical infrastructure were among the topics discussed at the video conference.
