Medhavi Skills University Advances India’s Skills Mission at Its Second Convocation Ceremony

Medhavi Skills University (MSU) successfully conducted its second convocation ceremony for degree programme graduates in Gangtok, Sikkim. The ceremony celebrated the academic achievements and industry readiness of graduating students, marking the university’s continued progress in advancing skills-based higher education and strengthening industry-aligned learning pathways in India.

The ceremony was graced by Shri Sonam Tshering Venchungpa, Hon’ble MLA, Sikkim Legislative Assembly as the Guest of Honour. Other distinguished dignitaries included Shri A. P. Subba, Chairperson – Lokyukta of Sikkim; Shri Sanjay Kumar, IPS (Retd.), Former Director General, National Disaster Response Force, Government of India, Government of Sikkim; Shri Rinzing Chewang Bhutia, IAS, Secretary, Land Revenue & Disaster Management Department, Sikkim; Shri Jiyau Singh, Commandant – CRPF; Shri Dharma Das Sharma, SGS Deputy Director, Skill Development Department; Col. Arpan Grover, Commanding Officer, 617 EME Battalion and Shri Jai Pratap Singh, Professor of Mathematics, University of Lucknow; along with academic leaders, industry partners, faculty members, and families of the graduates.

A key highlight of the ceremony was the conferral of D.Litt. – Honoris Causa upon Major General Jai Singh Bainsla, SM, Additional Director General of Assam Rifles, and Shri Raj Kumar Yadav, IAS, Commissioner-cum-Secretary, Women, Child, Senior Citizen and Divyangjan Welfare Department, Government of Sikkim for their distinguished service and contribution to the nation. Expressing their gratitude upon receiving the honour, Shri Bainsla and Shri Yadav delivered their acceptance speeches and encouraged the students with their inspirational words.
Shri Jiyau Singh, in his address, highlighted the importance of discipline, national service, and skill-driven education in shaping responsible and future-ready youth for the country’s development.

The convocation was presided over by MSU’s Hon’ble Founder & Chancellor Shri Pravesh Dudani and Hon’ble Co-Founder & Pro-Chancellor Shri Kuldip Sarma, and other notable university leaders, who conferred degrees and awarded certificates to the graduating students.

Shri Dudani delivered the welcome address, which was followed by the presentation of the Convocation Report by MSU’s Pro-Vice Chancellor, Dr. Ashwini Kumar Sharma highlighting the university’s academic achievements, industry partnerships, and learner outcomes.

During his address, Shri Dudani emphasised skill-integrated education as the foundation of future-forward learning. “This convocation celebrates not just academic achievement, but a new generation empowered with skills, competence, and industry readiness to create meaningful impact from day one. At MSU, skilling is the foundation, industry relevance is the pathway, and employability is the outcome. Our graduates step into the world not only with degrees, but with dignity coupled with a spirit of confidence and capabilities that can empower them to create value from day one.” he stated.

Co-Founder & Pro-Chancellor Shri Sarma delivered an inspiring message to the graduating students saying, “As you step forward in life, it is imperative to move with clarity and ambition, serve the society at large, act with empathy and pace ahead with the spirit of learning as you leverage your skills to power Unstoppable India. Remember, the journey towards a Viksit Bharat begins with each one of you.”

Congratulating the students, the Hon’ble Guest of Honor Shri Sonam Tshering Venchungpa said, “I believe that while traditional, conventional university programmes have their place, they can sometimes limit the true potential of students. Education becomes truly meaningful only when it is complemented by skills that prepare learners for real-world challenges and opportunities.” He congratulated MSU for empowering the youth of Sikkim with skills and industry-aligned education.

The formal conferral of degrees, symbolised the successful completion of the graduates’ academic and professional training reaffirming their commitment to professional excellence and social responsibility.

Students who demonstrated exceptional academic and technical performance were honoured with medals, including achievers from national skill platforms such as IndiaSkills and WorldSkills competitions.

The event also witnessed a Strategic MoU Exchange with leading industry partners including Dhoot Transmission, NephroPlus, Emversity, Redversity, CNH Industrial (India) Private Limited, Talent Corp Solutions, GKN Powder Metallurgy, and NextStep Educate & Skilling Services. amongst others. The industry-academia collaborations aim at strengthening and expanding work-integrated learning opportunities, employability pathways and practical exposure for students.
The convocation also reflected MSU’s growing institutional impact and industry relevance. During the latest placement cycle, more than 100 reputed companies participated, resulting in over 250 placement offers, with the highest package reaching ₹15 LPA, demonstrating strong industry confidence in MSU graduates.

The graduating batch represents a new generation of professionals trained through industry-aligned curricula designed to enhance employability, entrepreneurship, and workforce readiness. This milestone reinforces Medhavi Skills University’s commitment to strengthening India’s skills ecosystem and fostering inclusive, future-ready education.
