Delhi Police Arrest Fifth Person Over Shirtless AI Summit Protest

The Delhi Police have arrested a fifth individual in connection with the disruptive shirtless protest that took place during the high-profile Global AI Summit held in the national capital. The latest arrest followed a series of coordinated raids across the National Capital Region (NCR) after investigators analyzed CCTV footage and social media videos to identify the key instigators of the demonstration. The protest, which saw a group of men stripping to their waists and shouting slogans against the perceived “job-killing” nature of Artificial Intelligence, breached several security layers at the Bharat Mandapam convention center, causing a temporary halt to the proceedings and embarrassing security agencies. According to senior police officials, the arrested individual is believed to be a primary coordinator who helped organize the logistics for the demonstrators to bypass the heavy police cordon surrounding the venue. Initial interrogations suggest that the group was part of a newly formed tech-skeptic collective that claims AI development will lead to mass unemployment and the erosion of human privacy in India. While the previous four suspects were apprehended on the day of the event, this fifth suspect had reportedly been evading capture by frequently changing his location and switching off his mobile devices. All five accused have been charged under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, including public nuisance, obstructing public servants in the discharge of their duties, and criminal conspiracy. The Delhi Police have also moved to investigate if any external funding or political organizations backed the “shirtless” stunt, which has sparked a nationwide debate on the ethics of automation and the right to protest at international diplomatic venues. Security has since been beefed up at all major government installations and upcoming international summits to prevent a recurrence of such security lapses, while the five accused remain in judicial custody pending further investigation.
