Supercars Drive Through Silk Route, Promoting Sikkim Tourism

Sikkim recently hosted a supercar rally featuring 17 iconic high-performance vehicles, including Lamborghinis and Porsches, from December 12 to 15. This event was organized under the Ministry of Defence’s ‘Bharat Ranbhoomi Darshan’ initiative to promote battlefield and border tourism. Conducted under the Army’s Trishakti Corps in collaboration with Super Car Route (Mumbai) and the Government of Sikkim, the rally aimed to encourage responsible tourism and strengthen ties between citizens and the Armed Forces.

Lieutenant General Man Raj Singh Mann flagged off the rally at Sukna, where participants drove through the historic Sikkim Silk Route, showcasing the majestic Eastern Himalayas and the strategic significance of high-altitude border areas. The route included a tribute to Indian soldiers from the Cho La and Nathu La engagements. A significant highlight was the inauguration of the Cho La Prerna Sthal on December 14, featuring the Cho La War Memorial, an Audio-Visual Room, and a Gazebo with views of Cho La Lake. This complex serves to educate visitors about the sacrifices of soldiers and the challenges they endure in the region.

The inauguration was attended by prominent figures, including Om Prakash Mathur, the Governor of Sikkim, and Justice Biswanath Somadder, the Chief Justice of the Sikkim High Court. The initiative successfully merged adventure with national pride and military history while fostering responsible tourism and local involvement. Overall, the Bharat Ranbhoomi Darshan Supercar Drive celebrated the Himalayas, honored the bravery of Indian soldiers, and bolstered national pride in India’s frontier regions.
