Tata Motors announced on Friday that Girish Wagh and Shailesh Chandra will head its commercial and passenger vehicle businesses, respectively, as part of the company’s demerger plan. The commercial vehicle (CV) division and its related investments will be housed under one entity, while the passenger vehicle (PV) arm—including electric vehicles (EV), Jaguar Land Rover (JLR), and related investments—will form another.
In a regulatory filing, Tata Motors said its board has approved the appointment of Girish Wagh as Additional Director, Managing Director, and CEO of TML Commercial Vehicles Ltd, the proposed listed entity for the CV business, effective October 1, 2025. Shailesh Chandra has been named MD and CEO of the PV business entity for a three-year term starting the same day. He will also continue as MD of Tata Passenger Electric Mobility Ltd.
PB Balaji, set to become JLR’s global CEO, will join the boards of both new entities. Sudha Krishnan has been appointed as a Non-Executive Independent Director, while Hanne Sorensen, K.V. Chowdary, and Guenter Butschek will join respective boards.
