Sensex Jumps 555 Points

Indian stock market benchmarks, Sensex and Nifty 50, ended higher on Monday, September 1, snapping a three-day losing streak as buying was seen across all sectors. The Sensex closed with a gain of 555 points, or 0.70%, at 80,364.49, while the Nifty 50 rose 198 points, or 0.81%, to settle at 24,625.05.

Mid and small-cap stocks outperformed the frontline indices, with the BSE Midcap index surging 1.64% and the Smallcap index rising 1.49%.

Investor wealth saw a sharp rise, increasing by over ₹5 lakh crore in just one trading session. The total market capitalisation of companies listed on the BSE climbed to nearly ₹449 lakh crore, compared to below ₹444 lakh crore in the previous session.

In the Nifty 50 index, Bajaj Auto led the gains, jumping 4.01%, followed by Mahindra & Mahindra (up 3.52%) and Hero MotoCorp (up 3.18%). Out of the 50 stocks in the index, 42 ended the day in positive territory, reflecting broad-based market optimism.
