Following Ajit Varghese’s retirement, JioStar has chosen Mahesh Shetty as its new Head of Revenue, Entertainment. JioStar’s CEO of Entertainment, Kevin Vaz, announced the announcement via internal mail. Shetty, who now leads the LCS (Linear Channels Sales) business, will take up the new portfolio immediately. He was Viacom18’s Head of Network Sales until it merged with Star India to establish JioStar. Shetty has approximately three decades of experience in the media, entertainment, and FMCG industries, including executive positions at Radio Mirchi and PepsiCo. He is regarded for driving corporate change and producing consistent revenue growth throughout his career.
Shetty’s enhanced job will include overseeing key sales activities while also directly leading the LCS company. Anuradha Mathu Agrawal, Srijith Jagdish, Shubhra Sethi, and Kingshuk Mitra will now report to him, although his current direct reports remain unaltered. Meanwhile, Sudhir Nagpal, the Head of International Business, will report directly to Kevin Vaz. The leadership move occurs at a critical juncture for JioStar, as it advances its unified entertainment monetization strategy across television and digital channels.
Ajit Varghese, who has held the role since JioStar’s establishment, is departing to pursue other opportunities. During his employment, he was instrumental in defining JioStar’s advertising revenue strategy, expanding client relationships, and developing a top-performing sales staff.
