Samsung ‘Galaxy Empowered’ begins an immersive Programme for Bhutan’s teaching community

Samsung India has extended its innovative ‘Galaxy Empowered’ education initiative to Bhutan, launching an immersive programme aimed at equipping teachers from remote Bhutanese schools with cutting-edge technology and teaching tools. The initiative, originally launched in India in December 2024, focuses on preparing educators for future-ready classrooms through hands-on workshops and collaborative learning. Educators from diverse regions across Bhutan, including Samtse, Gelephu, and Punakha, participated in the Gurugram immersion, experiencing Samsung’s Galaxy ecosystem — smartphones, tablets, flipboards, and AI-powered educational applications. The programme, in partnership with Bhutan’s Ministry of Education, aims to bridge the digital divide and enhance learning in underserved communities.

Khandu, a teacher at Wangdue Primary School, expressed enthusiasm after using interactive whiteboards for the first time, highlighting the potential for more engaging lessons. Similarly, Ghana Shyam Dhungana from Pelrithang Higher Secondary School said the experience inspired ideas for transforming classrooms back home. The region stands to benefit from such technological advancements as well, given its role as a commercial and educational hub near Bhutan’s border. Increasing access to smart educational tools in schools could boost the overall quality of learning and foster greater regional collaboration in education technology.

With over 4,800 Indian teachers certified and a goal to empower 20,000 by 2025, Samsung’s ‘Galaxy Empowered’ programme is shaping classrooms into vibrant, tech-enabled spaces for the next generation.
