Sikkim’s CM pays a visit to the Dodak Urgen Choeling Gurung Monastery in Soreng district

Sikkim Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang visited the Dodak Urgen Choeling Gurung Monastery in Soreng district, seeking blessings for the state’s people. During his visit, he announced a cash donation of Rs 20 lakh from the Chief Minister’s Discretionary donation to help with the monastery’s renovation and development. CM Tamang highlighted the government’s commitment to conserving Sikkim’s rich religious and cultural history, emphasizing the monastery’s significance as a center for faith, study, and community participation.

He claimed that the financial assistance would help to revitalize and modernize the monastery’s infrastructure. “Our government is committed to promoting and empowering religious and cultural institutions in Sikkim. Contributions like these not only help to preserve our spiritual traditions, but also promote unity and harmony throughout our communities,” Tamang said. The Chief Minister extended his best wishes to the monastery and its adherents, hoping that the assistance will help it expand and sustain itself.
