UE LifeSciences, a global MedTech innovator, partnered with Central Referral Hospital (CRH) Manipal to introduce Sikkim’s first painless, radiation-free breast cancer screening camp. Held at CRH Gangtok, the initiative screened 94 women using iBreastExam, a breakthrough technology designed for early cancer detection. The event saw participation from key dignitaries, including AVM (Dr.) Dilip Chandra Agarwal, Vice-Chancellor of Sikkim Manipal University (SMU), Dr. Muralidhar V Pai, Dean of SMIMS, and senior CRH officials. Six nurses and two junior resident doctors underwent hands-on training with iBreast Exam, strengthening local healthcare capacity.
Dr. Pesona Grace Luksom, Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology at CRH, stressed the importance of early detection, stating, “Early identification of breast abnormalities can significantly improve treatment outcomes and save lives.”
Gangtok is witnessing growing awareness of preventive healthcare, with women from the business community, including market vendors and entrepreneurs, actively participating in the camp. This reflects a shift in consumer priorities towards accessible and advanced medical solutions. Dr. Ruhi Agarwala, Head of Public Health at UE LifeSciences, highlighted the impact of iBreastExam, stating, “Its ease of use and non-invasive nature make it ideal for community screenings, ensuring wider access to early detection.”
