In honor of World Fisheries Day on November 21, Sikkim Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang discussed the importance of fisheries as a catalyst for sustainable development. He sent his warmest regards and emphasized the significance of fish farming beyond its financial function while speaking to stakeholders, researchers, and fish farmers.
Tamang discussed government programs including the Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana and the Mukhya Mantri Matsya Utpadan Yojana, emphasizing the state’s dedication to improving fish farmers. He pointed out that these programs offer financial and technical assistance to update procedures and boost output. Ten exceptional fish farmers and fishermen from each area were also honored during the event for their creative contributions to the industry. To foster cooperation and discuss issues facing the fishing sector, a buyers’ and sellers’ meet was arranged.
