Sikkim Governor donates Rs 5 lakh to boost football development in the state

Sikkim Governor Om Prakash Mathur has generously pledged a donation of Rs 5 lakh to aid the growth of football in the state, as announced in an official release. The announcement was made during a visit by Menla Ethenpa, President of the Sikkim Football Association (SFA), and Vice President Arjun Roka to the Raj Bhavan.

The visit’s primary objective was to invite the Governor to attend the finals of the ongoing 40th All India Governor’s Gold Cup International Football Tournament 2024, hosted at Paljor Stadium. The Governor not only accepted the invitation but also extended his financial support of Rs 5 lakh to further encourage the development of football in the region.

In his remarks, the Governor expressed his enthusiasm for the event and his support for the promotion of sports in Sikkim. “I believe in the potential of sports to unite and inspire our youth, and I am committed to supporting such initiatives,” he said. SFA President Menla Ethenpa thanked the Governor for his continuous encouragement and generous contribution, which reflects his dedication to the advancement of sports in Sikkim.
