On the occasion of the 78th Independence Day, Sikkim Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang inaugurated a new web-based integrated land record management system. The launch took place at Paljor Stadium, following the traditional flag-hoisting ceremony. Developed by the Land Revenue and Disaster Management Department, the new system aims to enhance the efficiency of land record management in Sikkim. This initiative is part of a broader plan to modernize administrative processes and improve service delivery for the state’s residents.
In his address, Chief Minister Tamang also announced plans for a year-long celebration to mark the 50th anniversary of Sikkim’s statehood. The celebrations will be themed ‘Sunaulo Sikkim, Samridha Sikkim – Samarth Sikkim’ (Golden Sikkim, Prosperous Sikkim, and Capable Sikkim) and are set to showcase the state’s achievements, culture, and future vision. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is expected to be invited as the chief guest for these festivities. Tamang emphasized the importance of balancing technological advancements with the preservation of Sikkim’s cultural heritage. He stressed that while embracing modern technology is crucial, it is equally important to maintain and protect the state’s traditions and values.
In addition, the Chief Minister launched the ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ (A Tree in the Name of Mother) initiative, encouraging citizens to plant a tree in honor of their mothers. This campaign aims to contribute to Sikkim’s environmental protection efforts and promote biodiversity, aligning with the state’s development agenda.
