Leopard baby is seen in the drainage system of Pahargoomiah Tea Estate in Naxalbari, seeking immediate action from the forest department.
Workers in the tea garden saw two leopard babies in the drain while collecting leaves and rapidly informed the authorities. The Bagdogra Range workers, in addition to the Elephant Squad and Jambo Troops, rushed to the scene after getting a response.
Forest workers surrounded the area to make sure the safe return of the leopard babies to their mother. Cameras were placed for continuous tracking.
Importantly, the mother leopard managed to recover one baby from the drain, but another baby remains in the drainage system. As a result, forest workers are maintaining close protection to ensure its safety.
Debesh Pandey, DFO of Kurseong Forest Division, told over the phone that worker movement in the tea garden has stopped, and forest workers are conducting 24-hour protection to trace the situation closely.
