Siliguri, July 10: In a significant breakthrough, police from Siliguri police station have arrested two persons, Palash Mandal and Sanjib Sutradhar, in connection with a theft that took place on July 3. Sanjeeb Sutradhar is reportedly an employee of a gold shop.
Reportedly, the incident took place at a residence in Hakimpara, Siliguri, where several documents, gold jewelery and Rs 18,000 in cash were stolen. A written complaint was lodged at Siliguri Police Station the next day.
During investigation, it was revealed that three bags filled with money, gold jewelery and documents were stolen using hooks. Acting on a tip-off, police arrested Palash Mandal from Dabgram area on July 7 and recovered stolen bags from his residence.
Palash Mandal was later produced in the court and taken on remand for three days. During interrogation he revealed that seven grams of gold was sold to a gold shop employee. This led to the arrest of Sanjib Sutradhar, who was found with molten gold during a raid at a gold shop in Khudiram Palli on Tuesday night.
Sanjib Sutradhar was produced in the Siliguri divisional court on Wednesday.
