Siliguri, 05 July (Retd.). NJP police have arrested two people with firearms and two cartridges. The accused have been identified as Narayan Mandal and Sanath Barman, residents of Kamranguri and West Dhantala in Phulbari.
Police sources have revealed that both of them had reached Kashmir Colony area adjacent to NJP on a scooter to exchange weapons. Meanwhile, a law enforcement team from NJP police station, acting on a tip-off, raided the area on Thursday night. Upon searching the two-wheeler, officials recovered a firearm with two rounds of ammunition, leading to his arrest.
After this, the scooter involved in the incident was also confiscated. Both the arrested were presented in Jalpaiguri court on Friday. At present the police is inquiring the entire matter.
