Future Generali enhances life insurance penetration in Sikkim with strategic local initiatives

Future Generali India Life Insurance Company Ltd, appointed as the lead insurer for Sikkim by the Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India (IRDAI), has announced a strategy to increase insurance penetration and financial inclusion in the state. This includes on-ground and digital outreach initiatives, targeting the youth population and culturally distinct communities. The company plans to use localized distribution channels and curated marketing campaigns to overcome low insurance awareness among the indigenous population. Future Generali India Life Insurance is partnering with NGOs to organize workshops and awareness camps in Sikkim, focusing on financial literacy among the youth. The initiative will include interactive sessions, informative lectures, and essay writing competitions. Commenting on Future Generali India Life Insurance’s initiatives to raise insurance awareness, Mr. Pradhan, Nodal Officer for the state of Sikkim, said, “The focus of the state government is to make the government insurance schemes reach the rural masses for their holistic development which has further been stressed upon by the Chief Secretary, Shri V.B Pathak.”

Future Generali India Life Insurance’s MD & CEO, Mr. Alok Rungta, attended the events, accompanied by key members of his team, who will be involved in regional project management, community engagement, and local operations and customer relations. Outlining the company’s overall strategy towards achieving ‘Insurance for All’, Mr. Alok Rungta-MD & CEO at Future Generali India Life Insurance commented, “At Future Generali India Life Insurance, we are wholeheartedly committed to achieving the goal of ‘Insurance for All’ by 2047.” Adding to that, Manoj Singh, State Insurance Coordinator, said, “We are confident that these efforts will significantly enhance insurance penetration and help more people in Sikkim secure their financial futures.”

The company is promoting financial literacy among youth and aiming to meet IRDAI’s revised targets for rural and social sector insurance penetration. Geetanjali Chugh Kothari -India Project Head for Sikkim at Future Generali India Life Insurance added, “In order to supplement the range of BTL activities launched across cities such as Pakyong, Namchi and Gangtok, we have sketched out a comprehensive literacy drive to demystify basic insurance concepts and enhance financial literacy levels across Sikkim.”
