CEO Sikkim ensures election security; vigilance heightened at strong rooms

Mr. D Anandan, Chief Electoral Officer of Sikkim, conducted a meticulous inspection of the strong rooms established at Namchi Government College, Kamrang, for Namchi district. His visit aimed to fortify security measures surrounding the stored EVMs, oversee control room operations, and address election-related concerns. Accompanied by key officials including Mrs. Annapurna Alley, DEO/DC, Namchi, Dr. Tsering Namgyal Gyatso, Sr. SP Namchi, and Mrs. Bhumika Chettri, Deputy Secretary (Election), Mr. Anandan emphasized strict adherence to guidelines and bolstered security protocols to avert any potential threats.

During the assessment, Mr. Anandan directed the DEO to ensure stringent compliance with storage guidelines and bolstered security measures at critical locations. He mandated the establishment of a dedicated control room with daily CCTV footage backups to facilitate vigilant surveillance. Furthermore, Mr. Anandan probed into daily monitoring activities, logbook maintenance, power supply reliability, and fire safety measures. The DC and Sr. SP elaborated on the robust security measures in place to safeguard the perimeter.

In addition to scrutinizing the camp housing political representatives tasked with monitoring potential malpractices, Mr. Anandan enquired about their access to live footage from inside the strong rooms and other provisions available to them.
