In a concerted effort to foster a culture of reading and prioritize literacy, District Collector Ms. Yishey D Yongda inaugurated the ‘Soreng District Reads’ initiative at Hingwatar, Chakung today. The initiative, designed to cultivate a love for reading among young children, especially school kids, aims to establish silent reading chapters across the district, uniting young creative minds through the act of reading. Addressing the gathering of school children during the launch event, the District Collector emphasized the importance of ‘Soreng Reads’ in nurturing the habit of reading among children and community members alike.
This initiative not only seeks to engage young minds at the primary school level but also endeavors to mitigate gadget dependency and address various social issues prevalent in society. She underscored the initiative’s objective of creating a safe and inclusive environment for individuals to explore reading and other creative pursuits.
Encouraging active participation from educators and volunteers, the District Collector urged teachers to conduct Read Aloud sessions in schools to captivate students’ interest.
