Sikkim BJP leader Pasang Sherpa affirmed the party’s unwavering commitment to maintaining discipline and accountability within its ranks. On April 26, Sherpa underscored the BJP’s determination to swiftly address instances of anti-party activities, regardless of the perpetrators’ status within the organization. Addressing concerns surrounding internal discord and external threats, Sherpa emphasized the party’s dedication to safeguarding its integrity and principles. He expressed resolve in dealing decisively with any actions that undermine the BJP’s image and objectives.
“Reports and evidence of certain members engaging in activities contrary to the BJP’s ethos have surfaced within our party,” remarked Sherpa. “Whether they are sitting MLAs or influential figures, disciplinary measures will be enforced against those found guilty of tarnishing the party’s reputation.” Highlighting the imperative of internal cohesion and adherence to party principles, Sherpa emphasized a zero-tolerance policy towards violence or misconduct. Recent incidents, including an attack on the residence of state BJP president DR Thapa and assaults on party members, served as stark examples of escalating tensions in Sikkim’s political landscape.
“We have initiated legal action against those responsible for the reprehensible attack on our party president’s residence,” Sherpa affirmed. “Any BJP member or cadre implicated in acts of violence will face stringent disciplinary consequences, regardless of the electoral phase.”Furthermore, Sherpa condemned alleged misconduct by the ruling party in Sikkim, accusing them of employing coercion and bribery tactics to sway public opinion. He singled out Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang, alleging his involvement in such activities and calling for accountability.
“The recent elections have unveiled distressing instances of intimidation, bribery, and coercion by the ruling SKM party,” Sherpa asserted. “From threatening citizens to distributing money, including among students, these actions undermine democracy and erode public trust in governance.” Reiterating the BJP’s commitment to ethical conduct and transparency, Sherpa urged all party members to uphold integrity and respect democratic norms. He pledged to eliminate any elements that pose a threat to the BJP’s core principles, reaffirming the party’s role as custodians of democracy and advocates for a fair electoral process.
