The Sikkim Democratic Front (SDF) has made grave allegations against activists associated with the Sikkim Krantikari Morcha (SKM), claiming that they orchestrated a violent assault on its members in Rangpo. According to reports, the incident unfolded when SKM activists allegedly targeted SDF party members, including Aaron Rai, the youth front coordinator, and Akbar Alam, the labor front coordinator. The attack resulted in severe injuries, necessitating hospitalization at Rampur Hospital for both victims.
Condemning the assault in the strongest terms, the SDF has characterized the incident as a blatant demonstration of SKM’s resort to brute force and intimidation tactics in the face of dwindling public support. In a statement issued following the incident, the SDF emphasized the imperative of upholding law and order and called for immediate action to address the escalating culture of violence propagated by the opposing party.
With the April 19 elections looming, the SDF has mobilized its supporters, urging them to stand united against the politics of aggression. Emphasizing the importance of stability and progress, the party has called upon voters to reject violence and cast their ballots in favor of a peaceful and prosperous future for Sikkim.
