In a resounding declaration of commitment to Sikkim’s socio-economic advancement, Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang has unveiled an ambitious roadmap poised to elevate the quality of life for its residents. Tamang’s multifaceted plan spans across crucial sectors, heralding a new era of growth and prosperity for the state. At the heart of Tamang’s agenda lies the groundbreaking “Matri Suraksha Kavas Yojana,” a pioneering endeavor aimed at safeguarding the health of expectant mothers in Sikkim. Under this initiative, pregnant women will receive vital supplements, supplemented by a financial aid package of Rs 21,000, ensuring their well-being during this pivotal phase. Additionally, new mothers will be equipped with essential baby kits, nurturing the health and vitality of both mother and child. Emphasizing the pivotal role of women in propelling societal progress, the government has announced plans to bolster self-help groups across every district of Sikkim. With the appointment of two women from each district as chairpersons, the initiative seeks to empower women and amplify their voices in the decision-making arena.
In a commendable stride towards environmental stewardship, Chief Minister Tamang introduced an innovative scheme incentivizing responsible parenthood and ecological conservation. Parents welcoming a newborn will receive a monetary incentive of Rs 10,800, coupled with the plantation of 108 trees, fostering a culture of sustainability and environmental consciousness. Underpinning the state’s economic trajectory is the unveiling of “Invest Sikkim,” a strategic endeavor aimed at attracting $18 million in investments by 2035. Through this initiative, Sikkim aims to emerge as a premier investment destination, stimulating job creation and catalyzing economic vibrancy. In a bid to decentralize development, the government has launched the “Beyond Gangtok” mission, envisaging the replication of Gangtok’s success in other districts. By fostering robust infrastructure and investment mechanisms, the initiative endeavors to cultivate thriving urban centers across the state.
Addressing the imperative of accessible healthcare, Chief Minister Tamang introduced the “Sikkim Mukhyamantri Sanjeevani Yojana,” extending health insurance coverage of up to Rs 30 lakhs to families below the poverty line (BPL). This transformative initiative seeks to alleviate the financial burden of medical expenses and enhance healthcare accessibility. Underscoring the significance of education, the government has announced free transportation for college and school students on Sikkim Nationalized Transportation buses. Moreover, the establishment of free hostels for college students across districts aims to alleviate housing challenges in urban locales.
In a concerted effort to foster entrepreneurship and innovation, the government has pledged support to 25,000 entrepreneurs by providing loans of up to Rs 50 lakhs sans collateral. Additionally, the establishment of Sikkim Global Creator Hubs will nurture creative talent and catalyze economic diversification.
