Indra Hang Subba, the Sikkim Krantikari Morcha’s (SKM) MP candidate, launched a blistering attack on opposition parties, particularly targeting the Sikkim Democratic Front (SDF), during an election gathering in Shyari. Subba raised doubts about the commitment of past administrations to the welfare of Sikkim’s diverse communities over the past quarter-century.
Questioning the accountability of those in power, Subba challenged the credibility of promises made by parties that have failed to address the longstanding demands of marginalized groups in Sikkim. “How can those who neglected 12 communities in the last 25 years promise change now?” Subba challenged the opposition’s track record, emphasizing the absence of significant progress in securing tribal status for these communities.
Turning his attention to recent political developments, Subba criticized former Sikkim MP PD Rai, accusing him of betraying the state’s interests by supporting the Citizenship Amendment Bill in 2018. Subba condemned Rai’s stance, arguing that it jeopardized the special provisions safeguarding Sikkim’s identity under Article 371F. Highlighting his own parliamentary efforts, Subba reiterated his commitment to protecting Sikkim’s interests, particularly its land and cultural heritage. He underscored SKM’s dedication to advocating for the rights of all Sikkimese citizens, regardless of their background.
