Addressing the gathering, JP Nadda emphasized the party’s commitment to addressing the issue of unemployment and fostering development in the state. Revenue generation and tackling corruption were highlighted as key priorities outlined in the manifesto.
Nadda reassured the audience that the BJP stands for inclusivity and is not anti-Christian, citing the party’s governance in Nagaland, which has a predominantly Christian population. During his speech, Nadda paid homage to the Guardian deity of Sikkim, Mount Khangchandzonga, and lauded Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision for the Northeast, considering it the gateway to Asia. He emphasized the BJP’s focus on last-mile delivery and connectivity, contrasting it with the previous government’s policy of isolation and ignorance.
Under BJP rule, Nadda highlighted the integration of the Northeast with the mainstream and the region’s transformation from a conflict zone to a hub of peace and prosperity. He cited achievements such as the signing of 11 peace accords, a significant reduction in insurgent attacks, and substantial investments in the region. Key infrastructure projects and social welfare schemes were also announced, including the connectivity of 10,000 villages with optical fiber, the establishment of institutes such as the Institute of Hotel Management and an IIT, and a significant corpus fund for agriculture revamp.
