The culmination of the AIFF D-Certificate Football Learning Course, jointly organized by the All India Football Federation (AIFF) and the Sikkim Football Association (SFA), was celebrated with enthusiasm as 24 aspiring student-coaches from Sikkim and neighboring areas successfully completed the program. The course, which commenced on April 5th, aimed to arm these individuals with the requisite skills and knowledge to make meaningful contributions to the footballing community.
The closing ceremony, held on Tuesday, April 9th, was graced by esteemed dignitaries, including Mrs. Yogeeta Rai, Secretary of the Sports Department, attending as the chief guest, and Mr. Sudip Pradhan, Independent Director of Numaligarh Refineries Limited, present as the Guest of Honor. Mrs. Rai extended her heartfelt congratulations to all the participants for their dedication throughout the course, assuring them of the department’s steadfast support in their future endeavors. Mr. Phurba Sherpa, General Secretary of the SFA, set an encouraging tone for the event with his welcome address.
In his closing remarks, Mr. Menla Ethenpa, President of the SFA, underscored the importance of such training programs in enhancing the standard of football coaching and development in the region. He reaffirmed the SFA’s commitment to collaborating with the AIFF to offer more opportunities for aspiring coaches.
Under the guidance of Ms. Kuntala Ghosh Dastidar, and with Mr. Lekden Basi serving as the Course Coordinator, the AIFF D-Certificate Football Learning Course witnessed overwhelming participation and enthusiasm from its attendees. As a result, the second batch of the course is scheduled to commence from April 11th, providing another cohort of aspiring coaches with the opportunity to refine their skills and contribute to the footballing landscape.
