In a significant operation at the Melli checkpost, the Static Surveillance Team, in collaboration with the police flying squad, intercepted a private vehicle bearing registration number SK 05-PA0018. During routine inspection around 5 p.m. this evening, authorities uncovered a stash of Rs 30 lakh five thousand in cash.
Official sources have confirmed that the vehicle was en route from Siliguri to Namchi when the interception occurred. The apprehended individual, identified as Sirish Khare, a resident of Namchi, has been detained at the checkpost for further questioning.
Sources indicate that the Income Tax authorities have been notified to conduct a thorough investigation into the matter.
