Smile Train joined forces with Anandaloke Multispeciality Hospital to host a groundbreaking cleft orientation and awareness workshop in Jalpaiguri, West Bengal. This collaborative effort aimed to empower frontline healthcare workers and enhance community outreach in cleft care.
The workshop, held at Hotel Ratnadeep, saw the participation of key stakeholders including government representatives, medical officers, and Accredited Social Health Activists (ASHA) workers under the Rashtriya Bal Swasthya Karyakram (RBSK). A highlight of the event was the felicitation of 100 ASHA workers for their exemplary contributions to the health sector.Since its inception in 2006, the partnership between Anandaloke Multispeciality Hospital and Smile Train has transformed over 4600 lives through free cleft surgeries. This collaboration not only provides surgical interventions but also offers vital ancillary services like nutrition counseling, speech therapy, and orthodontic care.
Mamta Carroll, Senior Vice President and Regional Director of Smile Train Asia, commended the dedication of ASHA workers in raising awareness about cleft conditions. Dr. Neela Bhattacharya, Consultant Plastic Surgeon at Anandaloke Multispeciality Hospital, emphasized the partnership’s role in extending cleft care services across the region.
