Marking a momentous occasion, the North East Zone Selection Committee proudly presents the inaugural squad for the Senior Women’s Inter-Zonal Multi-Day Trophy 2023-24. Representing a region known for its cricketing passion, this team is set to make its debut in the tournament, igniting excitement across the cricketing landscape. Scheduled to kick off on March 28, 2024, the tournament promises riveting encounters as the North East Zone takes on the East Zone in a highly anticipated quarterfinal clash. With semi-finals commencing on April 3 and the grand finale set for April 9, cricket enthusiasts are eagerly awaiting the return of women’s red-ball cricket to India’s domestic calendar after a six-year hiatus, spurred by the Indian women team’s resurgence in Test cricket.
The selection process, overseen by the esteemed committee chaired by Tika Subba, President of Sikkim Cricket Association and Zonal Convener, saw the culmination of efforts from representatives of Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, and Sikkim. Following rigorous evaluations, a talented 15-member squad was chosen to carry the hopes and aspirations of the region. Led by Captain Debasmita Dutta of Meghalaya and Vice-Captain Ningthoujam Monica Devi of Manipur, the squad boasts a diverse array of talent, symbolizing the unity and strength of the North East Zone.
With players hailing from various states, including Arunachal Pradesh, Mizoram, and Sikkim, the team embodies the spirit of inclusivity and regional pride.Accompanied by a dedicated support staff comprising seasoned professionals from Mizoram, Sikkim, Manipur, Meghalaya, and Nagaland, the squad is poised to showcase their skills and determination on the grand stage. Under the guidance of Team Manager Lalruthuama, Coach Sonam Palden Bhutia, Assistant Coach Waikhom Ganga Devi, Physio Wangshila Jamir, and S & C Coach Darishesha Mawroh, the team is primed for success.
