Eastern Command’s annual ATGM firing exercise, strengthens combat capabilities with precision and dedication

The Teesta Field Firing Range recently hosted the Annual Eastern Command Anti Tank Guided Missile (ATGM) field firing exercise from February 20th to February 28th, 2024. This crucial training event saw participation from over 1500 personnel representing various units of Infantry and Mechanised Infantry Battalions, all under the guidance of the esteemed Trishakti Corps.

During the exercise, more than 260 missiles were fired with the objective of achieving the target of One Missile One Tank. The exercise was meticulously planned to simulate tactical scenarios on the battlefield, wherein tanks play a pivotal role. ATGM detachments employed a range of firing modes, including firing from different vehicles such as the recently integrated indigenous Light Strike Vehicle, as well as ground-based detachments. Additionally, the engagement of targets by detachments inserted via helicopters was a key aspect of the training.

The firing exercise received commendation from the General Officer Commanding (GOC), Trishakti Corps, who lauded the troops for their professionalism, operational readiness, and dedication. He urged them to strive for excellence in mastering this vital weapon, emphasizing its significance in modern warfare.
