Khelo India University Ashtalakshmi Games 2023 semi-final sets stage for thrilling finals

The excitement at the Indoor Hall of Paljor Stadium reached its peak on February 27th as the semi-final showdown of the Khelo India University Ashtalakshmi Games 2023 took center stage. Gracing the event were esteemed personalities including Mr. Tenzing Lamtha, Advisor of the Information and Technology Department and founder of the Himalayan Sporting Club, alongside Mr. Sambhu Pradhan, former General Secretary of Sikkim Amateur Boxing Association & National Footballer, Mr. Umesh Tamang, President of Sikkim Taekwondo Association, Mr. Pema Dorjee Bhutia, the Iron Man of Sikkim and founder of Sikkim Strength Lifting Association, and Mr. Dawa Tamang, a former boxer, serving as Guests of Honour.

A total of 26 riveting bouts unfolded across various weight categories during the semi-final clashes. The victors of these intense encounters are now poised to vie for the ultimate glory in the final bout scheduled for February 28th-29th, 2024.

The event was further enriched by the presence of Mr. Bhaichung Yonzon, Vice President of Sikkim Sports Climbing Association, Mr. Suren Gurung, General Secretary of Sikkim Sports Climbing Association, Mr. Pravin Khaling, Publicity Secretary of Sikkim Sports Climbing Association, as well as officers from Sports Authority of India (SAI) and Sports and Youth Affairs Department, GoS. Representatives from Boxing Federation of India (BFI), along with other dignitaries and officials, added to the grandeur of the occasion.
