Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang proudly inaugurated the Multi-Level Car Parking facility and Foot Over Bridge at West Point Mall, highlighting the structural resilience of the newly unveiled infrastructure. Tamang emphasized the utilization of lightweight construction materials engineered to withstand seismic activity up to a magnitude of 7 on the Richter scale, ensuring the safety of residents and visitors alike. Expressing his satisfaction at the inauguration, Chief Minister Tamang remarked, “It was indeed a delightful moment to inaugurate the Foot Over Bridge and Multi-Level Car Parking at West Point, Gangtok.” He reiterated the government’s dedication to enhancing the urban landscape and addressing critical infrastructure needs, aiming to enhance the overall experience for city dwellers and tourists.
West Point Mall, situated in Gangtok, emerges as a visionary mega-development spanning 3.75 square feet, set to redefine the city’s skyline. Developed in collaboration with GANGTOK SMART CITY Development Limited, this integrated commercial and parking complex embodies sustainability, innovation, and cultural richness. The project addresses Gangtok’s longstanding parking challenges by providing space for 400 vehicles along with essential amenities such as waiting areas, toilets, and first aid facilities.
Vetted by esteemed institutions like IIT Guwahati and Jadavpur University, West Point employs cutting-edge construction techniques, including a steel composite system and prefabricated components, ensuring rapid construction and minimal on-site pollution. Moreover, the project has received pre-certification as IGBC Gold rated, reflecting its commitment to sustainable and eco-friendly urban development. Designed with inclusivity in mind, West Point integrates facilities for specially challenged individuals, pregnant women, and senior citizens.
