The names of Sri Lanka and Mauritius have also been added to that list.Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the Unified Payment Interface or UPI service in the two countries on Monday. Sri Lankan President Ranil Wickremesinghe and Mauritius Prime Minister Pravinda Jugnauth were present on the occasion. Also present were the central bank governors of the three countries.
According to the press release issued by the Centre, from now the residents of Sri Lanka and Mauritius will be able to transact money through UPI. Besides, tourists departing from India will benefit from this service. Similarly, if someone comes to India from Mauritius or Sri Lanka, they can use their UPI.
