An Ex retired police officer from Sikkim was caught and apprehended in Siliguri by the Officials of West Bengal Forest Department for his alleged involvement in a mammoth wildlife smuggling operation. The retired accused cop, whose identity is being hold back and is pending for the ongoing investigation was taken into custody after being caught smuggling Flying Squirrel Skins and Musk Deer body parts.
The Arrest is executed after forest officials received a update about suspicious activities happening in the area. Acting on the information received, the police personnel intercepted and apprehended the retired police cop.
Preliminary estimates suggest that the confiscated items, including Flying Squirrel skins and Musk Deer body parts, are valued at over 3 Crores Police are currently interrogating the person to gather more details about the extent of the smuggling network and any potential partner involved in the crime.
